BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The WKU Ag Expo Center hosted a charitable weekend of barrel racing.

The first Racing for a Reason event took place at the Expo Center, benefiting New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding.

Expos were available all weekend, with a jackpot taking place at 7 p.m. Friday.

Saturday began with an opening ceremony with a demonstration from New Beginnings students.

The Doan family says they are excited to give back to an organization that shares the same passion for horses as they do and encourage you to do the same.

"I think it's important for everybody to try to give back to their local community. I think if everybody just gave one percent of their time; doesn't even have to be finances, just one percent of their time and just try to do one percent… be one percent better and give back. If just us in Warren County and South Central Kentucky could do that, we’d increase this world; the productivity and happiness in this world by one hundred percent," Yvette Doan, creator of Racing for a Reason says.

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday with the major barrel races and awards ceremony.

Race winners received buckles and trophies with one lucky winner receiving a brand-new horse trailer.
