Officials have confirmed to WLWT that a mail carrier had been off duty for about an hour and was still in his postal uniform when he was assaulted and robbed outside the Clifton Mini Mart on Highland Avenue.

According to the Postal Inspector's Office, two suspects were involved in the attack at around 8 p.m.

Police say the suspects pulled the victim from his car and demanded he hand over his arrow key — a device that acts as a universal key for mailboxes — but the victim said he didn't have it.

The suspects then assaulted and robbed the mail carrier of his personal property and fled.

The Postal Inspector's Office says EMS responded to the scene to evaluate the mail carrier's injuries.

The Postal Inspector's Office has opened an investigation on the incident.

Police said one suspect is 15-18 years old, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds and was last seen wearing a black zip-up hoodie with a smiley face pattern, gray sweatpants and white Crocs.

The second suspect is described as 6 feet, 2 inches tall, medium build, last seen wearing a white long-sleeve shirt with a black vest over it and white and black shoes.
