HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. — A Long Island street was renamed Wednesday in honor of slain FDNY EMS Captain Alison Russo.

Russo,61, was fatally stabbed by a man last September. She was posthumously promoted to captain.

Part of Railroad Street in Huntington Station, Long Island was renamed Captain Alison Russo Way, ABC7 reported. The 24-year FDNY veteran volunteered with the Huntington Community First Aid Squad for nearly 30 years.
